The institution of marriage is an interesting indicator of how society is constantly changing and evolving to adapt to the demands of society and the social norms that come with it. The recent legalisation of gay marriage is a much needed and long overdue breath of fresh air for the wedding photography industry. We are thrilled for British wedding culture and we are so excited to be photographing our same sex couples who will be legally marrying in the very near future. To us, gay wedding photography doesn’t need to come with a separate label; a wedding is a wedding – a beautiful expression of love from two people who want to be together for the rest of their lives.
The traditional, conventional wedding day has been decreasing in popularity for some time as it becomes more and more mainstream to do something a little different, away from the pre-packaged, idealised wedding day format. The big white wedding is not as in vogue as it once was and there is far wider scope for creativity and individuality today than ever before. Society is now embracing the most important aspect of marriage – the love that two people share – regardless of sexuality and we believe that is exactly how it should be.
This really is an amazing time for the wedding world and we cannot wait to begin to share in the celebrations of the gay community with our wedding photography. We are privileged to be a part of the beauty, emotion and drama of the biggest day of our client’s lives and this is not something that we take lightly. Love is a beautiful thing and a wedding is a joyous occasion no matter if the people tying the knot are the same gender. We believe that gay weddings are some of the most emotive, romantic and touching wedding ceremonies and we love nothing more than photographing happy couples from all walks of life, capturing the moments that create a unique and unforgettable day.
The only thing that matters to us about our wedding couples is that they are having the time of their lives, saying I do amongst their most cherished friends and family while we snap away. The only thought going through our mind when we close the shutter is that we want that image to be perfect; an idyllic image immortalised in print for you to cherish forever. Whether you’re husband & husband or wife & wife; we love to photograph weddings, no matter their make-up.
